I want to find out more

You are welcome to email me or call if you have some questions which aren’t answered here. I can also email you a copy of the written contract for private clients. If you are a private client, you can then book an initial assessment meeting. This is about one hour at the standard fee. The aim is for us to find out whether we ‘click’ so that we feel confident we can work together to achieve the changes you want to make. You can ask any questions about the process, the different therapies. I will find out more about your issues or symptoms. We will also go through the ‘ground rules’ of how we work together; you get a copy of this contract.

If you are seeking EMDR treatment following a medico-legal report, your solicitor will instruct me. If your employer is sponsoring your coaching or career development programme, our initial meeting will be funded by them.

Is this meeting confidential?

Yes, everything we discuss is confidential and my notes are kept under lock and key and in accordance with Data Protection Act. I may discuss your situation with my supervisor, without mentioning your name. If you are referred by your employer, then I will discuss and agree with you the format for feedback to your employer.

If you are referred following a medico-legal report, you will see copies of relevant reports via your solicitor. I would only break confidentiality if a client told me they intended to commit a crime, harm themselves or someone else. Then I would have to inform a third party, such as their GP, the police, or social services.

What are your fees?

Fees for corporate clients are in line with those of other professionals. My fees for clients who sponsor themselves are on a sliding scale. For details of fees for special programmes, such as Past Life Regression (PLR) or Smoking Cessation, please contact us. Private clients pay, by cheque or cash, at the end of each session. Corporate clients will be invoiced either at the end of treatment, or monthly.

Will you be using EMDR, NLP or Hypnotherapy?

The simple answer is: EMDR is my therapy of choice. EMDR is a proven trauma treatment and highly effective for many other conditions. EMDR is not hypnosis, though hypnosis can be useful to support your therapy/treatment.

When do you work?

I offer therapy clients daytime appointments on Monday – Thursday, as well as early evening appointments on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Appointments outside these hours are by exception only.

How long is a session?

Generally, sessions last for one hour, Some clients who travel some distance prefer to book a longer session.  EMDR sessions can also be up to 90 minutes, while coaching sessions tend to be two or three hours, as agreed.

How often will we meet?

I generally see therapy clients weekly or once a fortnight. Coaching clients tend to see me once every three or four weeks.

How long will it take?

That depends on the problem. I will be able to give you a better indication at the end of the assessment meeting. Often clients find that six to eight sessions can be enough to make a difference. For clients who have experienced a single trauma, e.g. a Road Traffic Accident or accident at work, I usually recommend eight to 12 sessions, though some clients have made significant progress much more quickly. Individuals who have experienced multiple trauma, childhood neglect and/or abuse may well require more sessions.

I focus on the outcome you want to achieve, and regular reviews are part of that.

What can I do between sessions?

A lot and it will vary from client to client, for example listen to a guided visualisation, keep a daily log or diary, read an article, or experiment with a new behaviour.

Some of my clients live a long way from Manchester, so we agree to combine face-to-face meetings with email and / or telephone support. I charge for this support on a pro-rata basis of the session fee.

I see clients in Stretford, Manchester, UK. This is a quiet, residential area and there is ample parking. The practice is just over a mile from the M60 ring road and a few minutes walk from Stretford Metrolink. See Directions for further information.
